Through these two requested subscriptions, I believe I can format a professional digital portfolio that will help me obtain an internship, and later a full-time job. Grant Description
As a current student of Introduction to Cinematography II, I am planning to join my class on a trip to New York City. This trip is from March 28th to March 31st of 2024. While I have not been provided with an exact itinerary yet, the current plan is to drive up on the 28th and back on the 31st. On Friday the 29th we are going to go to the Whitney Biennial to view the new exhibitions, as well as meet some of the artists. On the 30th we have plans to meet more artists and go visit their studios and speak with them about their works. As part of this trip my class is staying at an Airbnb in New Jersey. I am requesting this minigrant to help support this trip by paying for my stay at the Airbnb and some additional fees to get in and out of the city.

Grant Description
My proposal is to create a rug through tufting to demonstrate large changes to our landscapes due to climate change. The goal is to scale the landscapes down to be more tangible for audiences to view and feel for themselves. I hope to center this project around my final thesis for the new media concentration in my studio art major. I am requesting about $2,000 to fund the unique tools for the tufting process.

Forming Landscapes Through the Art of Tufting

Zoe Edelman is a computer science and studio art double major from Dover, Delaware.  As a child, she began her artistic endeavors drawing suns in the corner of her paper and weirdly proportioned people.  From there, Zoe took various classes in things like drawing, pottery making, and collaging while also participating in summer camps to fuel her artistic drive.  Now at UVA, Zoe aims to focus on new media as she has aspirations to become a user experience/user interface designer to bring more creativity to the way we view the internet.  Outside of studio art, Zoe is an active member of the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra as a bassoonist and contrabassoonist, the WXTJ house show committee, the club swim team, and the club fencing team.  She is thrilled to be a part of the Miller Arts Scholars program and develop her artistic pursuits and mediums.
