Naomi Diener
Naomi Diener is a dancer from Harrisonburg, Virginia, majoring in Youth and Social Innovation with a minor in Dance. She is passionate about integrating her interests in child development and dance and hopes to collaborate with artists in different fields to provide children opportunities to explore the arts. She has been dancing since she was three years old, with a primary focus on ballet, and she joined the company for Rockingham Ballet Theater at the age of 12. Her love of dance continued to grow through training at dance intensives at her local studio and James Madison University, as well as performing in several full-length ballets.
She has explored a new side of dance here at UVA through choreographing and performing with the University Dance Club and Rhapsody Ballet Ensemble, along with performing in the Dance Department's concerts. Additionally, she discovered a passion for a new medium of dance through filmmaking and has created two films for UVA's Dance Program's concerts. Naomi is honored to become a Miller Arts Scholar and hopes to collaborate with other artists to grow in new and meaningful ways.
