Kanade Honda
Kanade Honda is from Chiba, Japan, and is pursuing a double major in Music and Chemistry. She began playing piano at the age of three and received solfege and perfect pitch training at Ichionkai Music School in Tokyo until the age of nine. She was also selected to play in the public master class of Eugene Pridonoff, a professor in University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. During elementary school, she frequently accompanied choir groups on piano, which led to an opportunity to perform in a choir competition. Kanade had the opportunity to play at the Esplanade in Singapore as part of a piano recital. In high school, she was an active member of Vivace, a volunteer group dedicated to performing music in hospitals and nursing homes. At UVA, she continues her piano studies under Professor John Mayhood and is also part of the Chamber Ensemble, where she enjoys playing in piano trios and quartets. As a Miller Arts Scholar, Kanade is excited to collaborate with and be inspired by fellow artists and musicians.
